We’ve all seen Products around the counter promising moisture boost to make skin feeling beautifully soft and smooth. People have fallen for most conventional practices of applying lotions, serums, creams, oils, powders and other cosmetics. They may have helped briefly and sure they had a side effect on their skin which they weren’t aware of at that time.
However, the search is not yet over. An article about a woman who drank 3 litres of water a day and appeared dramatically younger at the end of the trial. This idea has inspired us to go deeper and look for more about the effect of water and hydration on our system, skin especially.
If drinking more Water each day can have tremendous benefits for our body, how can it benefit the skin? Can I drink fo or tap water for a specific kind of water? Can this make a difference? Would I believe it is giving me more energy? Would it support my digestion, maintain the organs functioning properly, flush out toxins, and so forth? However, would it be an answer to my quest finding water which can help me restore that youthful glow?
Tap water – yes or no?
It’s amazing how water plays such roles in our entire body. Realise this, is it safe to drink water straight? Water becoming polluted with a few heavy metals (primarily from the dirt and rusty or contribute water pipes), hormones (in the medication individuals and cattle farmers flush down their drains), fluoride (that certain municipalities add deliberately) and pesticides (that farmers spray on their plants)? Just how safe can this be, even though the focus for our government could possibly be decent water purification, how safe can this really be? Imagine drinking all the toxins and infusing them into our body. They are getting accumulated in our system. Can there be even a better way of converting tap water into something natural, free of chemicals, free of elements such as fluoride, lead, drugs and pesticides?
The answer is YES! Fortunately, science did not stop in water purification. There is more. During the previous decade, there’ve been a terrific many research and studies printed on the potential therapeutic benefits of hydrogen water.
What is Molecular Hydrogen?
According to Molecular Hydrogen Foundation, Molecular Hydrogen (H2) or diatomic hydrogen is a tasteless, odourless gas.
- Over 500 peer-reviewed articles demonstrate hydrogen to have therapeutic potential in essentially every organ of the human body and in 150 different human disease models.
- H2 reduces oxidative stress as a selective antioxidant and by maintaining homeostatic levels of glutathione, superoxide dismutase, catalase, etc.
- H2, like other gaseous signalling molecules (i.e. NO, CO, H2S), appears to have cell signal-modulating activity affording it with anti-inflammatory, anti-obesity, and anti-allergy benefits.
How do we get the benefits from Molecular Hydrogen?
There are various ways to get molecular hydrogen in our body and each one of this methods can have a therapeutic effect. Inhalation of H2, injection of H2-rich saline, dropping H2-rich saline into eyes, taking a bath in H2-rich water, increasing H2 production by intestinal bacteria, topical application, oral consumption of hydrogen producing tablets or simply drinking H2-rich water.
How does it help the Skin in Aging?
The idea is that our skin loses its elasticity and we age because cells accumulate free radical damage over time. Exposure to ultraviolet light can increase concentrations of ROS and free radicals dramatically.
By taking an antioxidant such as molecular hydrogen, you could help mitigate some of the damage caused by this increase in ROS.
H2 shouldn’t be a substitute for organic sunscreen or other UV security, but diminishing oxidative stress through using molecular hydrogen “ought to help slow the ageing process and give you younger, healthier-looking skin.”
Sunburn: A Hot Topic
Several studies extol molecular hydrogen’s curative powers after skin cells suffer UV damage. One animal study involved hairless mice with sunburns. Group A was bathed in tap water while group B was bathed in water. The skin of these mice bathed in hydrogen water showed significantly lower indices of skin injury and lower inflammatory cytokine (harmful protein) amounts ) Then an identical study was completed and found that bathing mice in hydrogen water reduced the amount of skin damage in addition to raising the antioxidant glutathione peroxidase, and lowered inflammatory cytokines.
Speaking of Wrinkles
The desire to have healthy, elastic, wrinkle-free, and younger looking skin dates back to. One popular skin rejuvenation method has been bathing in mineral waters and environments. Unlike unproven lotions, creams, oils, powders, and other makeup, bathing in waters which have reductive attributes appears to provide great curative potential. One research tested mineral water plus a ready water containing H2. The results revealed that bathing in both these glasses of water decreased the oxidation-reduction potential (ORP) of human skin. Basically, this means a decrease of free radicals.
Bathing from the hydrogen Water not only diminished the ORP of skin but also improve` its elasticity.
Skin Related Diseases
Skin-related diseases are also getting a look to see if H2 can help. A study showed that psoriasis and skin lesions related to arthritis may show progress with H2 remedies. Three different techniques of administering hydrogen were utilized, and in most instances, the lesions nearly disappeared in the conclusion of the treatment. This led the National Centre for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) to report that H2 may indeed “be regarded as a treatment plan for psoriasis-associated skin lesions and arthritis”
H2 shows significant therapeutic potential for rheumatoid arthritis, especially in the early stages by reducing oxidative stress in patients.
